CREATOR

LILIA MERRIN

In August of 2017, I decided to eat my way to a healthier lifestyle by going on a "plant-based" diet, attributing that change to the movie, "What-The-Health" and a few other books and documentaries.

PURPOSE

LETS GET THIS STRAIGHT

Picture
This page meant for those who are trying to wean their way off of meat, dairy, and eggs.

I am NOT a perfect vegan, nor will I pretend to be. Do I love and respect animals? Yes. Worship them? No, Sorry.

Honestly, I grew up around hunters and fisherman, and I also highly respect what they do.

In my eyes, moderation is key, you choose how you want to live your life. You are in the driver seat of your own life, take control!

MAKING THE SWITCH

YOU CAN DO IT

When I made the switch, the first two weeks were probably the hard-est.

Here are some of the things I did:
1. Saying "No, thanks!" Once you utter the words from your mouth, you are forced to find something else to eat.

2. Down-time on the weekends? Go food shopping, and meal prep for the week.

3. Eat before you leave home, and eat before you go shopping. I used to mop the Costco hot dogs, now I get their fruit smoothies!

3. Try not to hang around places meat (i.e. Outback Steakhouse)

4. Avoid plate lunch places- This food is ingrained in us, but, you already know it's not good for you, donʻt tempt yourself!

5. Remember- You are doing this for you, and the only person you are "cheating on" is yourself.

6. Watch the movie again! and again! and again!
Still having a hard time? See my Feeling Weak? Page.

DEFINITIONS

IF YOU CARE ABOUT "LABELS"

Labels are not usually my jam. As I got going with my "Plant-based diet", people started asking if I was Vegan, Vegetarian, Pescatrian... etc;  I was a little confused, and ask myself "Whats the difference?" So for clarity, here you go:
  • Vegan /ˈvēɡən/: (noun) a person who does not eat or use animal products.

  • Vegetarian /vejəˈterēən/: (noun) a person who does not eat meat, and sometimes other animal products, especially for moral, religious, or health reasons.

  • Lacto-Vegetarian /laktōˌvejəˈterēən/: (noun) a person who abstains from eating meat and eggs, but who eats dairy products.

  • Pescatarian /ˌpeskəˈterēən/: (noun) a person who does not eat meat but does eat fish.

  • Carnivore /kärnəˌvôr/: (noun)  an animal that feeds on flesh

  • Freegan /frēɡən/:  (noun)  a person who rejects consumerism and seeks to help the environment by reducing waste, especially by retrieving and using discarded food and other goods.

 PERSONAL TESTIMONY ON A PBD

...AND IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU TOO

YOU WILL LOOSE WEIGHT

After a month- Those shorts I kept for a long time because I kept telling myself "I will fit this again", yeah, they fit. Unfortunelty, some of the clothes I also love were a little baggy.

_______
YOUR SKILL WILL GET CLEARER

After three weeks- My skin looked amazing! Maybe its from drinking more water? Either way, since I have switched over I have noticed a change in my face and skin. The chubby-ness in my cheeks reduced. The red-ness in my skin went away (but unfortunelty, is still there when I run).  The little bumps and acne, cut in half.

_______
YOU WILL HAVE MORE ENERGY

After two weeks- First, no more food hangovers after meals and unbuttoning pants. Second, I used to run around a block and would have the feeling of "let's get-er-done". My legs felt heavy and I was only running to loose weight. Well, after switching my diet over, I felt lighter on my feet, and I could run around the block 3x no problem. Do believe me? Try it yourself.
